Lucas Samaras confronts the body and psyche in fragmented, often confrontational ways. While seemingly distant from classical harmony, his obsession with self-portraiture and metamorphosis nods to mythic transformations—Narcissus and Proteus. His use of mirrored environments and distorted figuration channels the same spirit of awe and self-examination present in Greek myth.
